The Challenge:
Since the creation of the Milwaukee Tools website, there has been no option for a user to compare different tools. Being one of the biggest tool manufactures in the industry, there was a need for users to have the ability to compare products. I was tasked with researching, designing, and solving the problems attached to this new tool.
Research:
The first stop was checking what other big companies are doing and how they structure their data. Lots of sites were analyzed and directed to see what worked and what did. Other factors that went into consideration were: accessibility, ease of use and other factors.
Wireframes and more wireframes
After several iterations and extensive analysis, we finalized a prototype that could be tested both internally and on-site. Once that first iteration was tested and our data was sorted out, we rolled out a new version. A lot of effort was invested in this and more resources will be used to be able to go site-wide.
User Interviews
The mockup was tested internally and later on-site with real end-users to get a pulse on the tool we just designed. This was of incredible value and the feedback was presented to the business and stake holders for final approval.
